What is the name given to the genre of parallel universes?
Hey,
I'm currently writing a story and would like to know what genre it belongs to.
Well, it does take place in a parallel universe, but the differences to the normal world are that the countries and the entire planet are divided differently, so the Earth looks different and so on…
However, there are no mystical beings or anything like that there. But in this world, everything isn't as advanced, and there's no electronics (like cell phones, computers, and the like).
A bit like "The Chronicles of Araluen," only without the strange creatures that appear there.
So basically it's like another world, just echoing without fantasy and everything not having progressed that far yet.
Thank you in advance for your answers!
Verena
Isekai is already the right term for it. There is at least no German equivalent. And yes, you can also use the term for Western works, such as Narnia, the ink world or the infinite history.
Sci-Fi would only be correct if there is actually talk about how to travel through parallel universes or physical concepts and something. If it’s more a “man wakes up there suddenly and that’s just that” or the reason “magic” is, that’s nix to do with sci-fi.
So the protagonist lives there already her whole life easy and for her it is the real world and another is not mentioned.
Oh, yeah. Yes, in this case, it’s just historical. Because, as you describe, it’s a magic world that is practically the past of the earth.
okay… just the historical events are different, probably then historically mixed with some other genre.
That’s right. One can call AU, i.e. alternative universe, but in general historical fiction is rarely a 1:1 takeover of things that have happened exactly like that.
Okay, thanks. You helped me with your answer very much!!!
The genre is called Since Fiction or SiFi
Science fiction
Science fiction. All that has to do with travel through space, future and parallelunviersen is science fiction
Okay, thank you, I wasn’t sure because there was no time travel or that’s what I know now!
