What is the job of a controller (controlling) like?
I'm about to finish my business studies with a focus on controlling and cost accounting. I always get good grades in my exams and am doing well. However, I'm wondering if this profession is well-suited for women who want to have children. How realistic is what you learn in your studies compared to what you do in your job? What's the work-life balance like? Can you do this profession for your entire life? I would appreciate answers from long-time controllers who could share their professional experiences.
It's for so-called number-savvy people. It's dry as dust and totally boring.
As I said, I'm currently studying and will soon be doing my master's degree. I know what it's like, and I like it. My question wasn't what you think, but rather what everyday working life is like.
Dusty dry and totally boring. Anyone who can read has a clear advantage!
Oh, so what area of controlling do you work in if you find it so bad? 😉
