What is the correct name (German, Grammar, Advanced)?
Is called:
"I thought you were your sister" (subjunctive I?)
or
"I thought you were your sister" ? (Subjunctive II?)
Is called:

This assumption is a false idea. So it's unreal, and that means conjunctive 2.
It's not a beautiful way of expression. Usually you would say:
Is there a synonym for disrespect?
Yeah, too bad, small. But what does that have to do with the question of the FS?
Nothing. I just wanted to know that an extra question would have been unnecessary. Thank you
Normally, one would say, "I have confused you with your sister."
But because the person addressed yes not her sister is, you have to do that correctly with the conjunctive II, Not applicable the reality expressed.
Hello QuestionsMoni5,
After the sentence
it seems that "they" in reality is NOT "their sister", that would speak for the conjunctive II, see https://mein-deutschbuch.de/konjunktiv-2.html ; it would also be in view of the " Conjunctive courtesy " recommended to use this, see https://mein-deutschbuch.de/konjunktiv-2-der-hoeflichkeit.html
Greetings ðŸTM‚
I find "You are your sister" more appropriate, because being here is the main verb.
"Wär" is an auxiliary verb – it should be said, "…why was your sister."
