What is the best device for mobile work?

I would like an affordable device with which I can use office programs, process emails and surf the Internet.

I've looked at Microsoft Surface, Lenovo ThinkPad and Android tablets, but I'm not really sure what to do.

What's important to me is a long battery life and a reasonable price.

Performance and screen only need to be sufficient for Word, Excel and Powerpoint, or Open Office alternatives.

Thanks in advance.

A small and inexpensive laptop should definitely be enough (200 – 400€)

Microsoft Surface is definitely not bad; a colleague of mine uses it for school and he is quite happy with it.

I'm still in school (BHS) and use a good mid-range laptop. My laptop is the HP 255 G10 , which I bought from Notebooksbilliger.de.

But any other laptop at MediaMarkt will definitely do! You can also get advice there.

I have to say that my laptop (HP 255 G10) is sometimes quite loud. (Especially when it's charging and I have a lot of apps running at the same time.)

As mentioned before, I recommend asking at Media Markt if they have models with quieter fan noise. One thing you should definitely consider: Buy a laptop with SSD storage (HDDs are older , loud , and slow in comparison).

At our HTL (higher technical college), we use Lenovo ThinkBooks as "exam laptops" for practical assessments in various minor subjects and also for school assignments (texts in German and English). I can tell you that these laptops are definitely very quiet and also ideal for office applications. The downside is that they are more expensive than other laptops with similar hardware (I think).

Based on your requirements, I would definitely recommend a Lenovo ThinkPad.

There are completely passively cooled laptops, which are then a bit fatter or a bit slower

I agree, but I wouldn't trust the Mediamarkt advice.

Chromebooks also come to mind. They're relatively inexpensive, have long batteries, and sync your Office work with Google accounts, so you can easily continue working on a different device later.

Chromebook… You can basically only use what runs in the browser, but Google Office and MS Office 365 are both accessible via the browser.

These things are cheap, but really only suitable for office and school

I don't know about offline, but I think so… Office will be difficult offline if you don't use Google Office.

The HP Pavilion x360 is good. It's also very comfortable for handwriting.
