What is more future-proof and perhaps brings in a higher salary?

So, I'm considering studying mechanical engineering so that I can later work as a mechanical engineer. I would also like to do my master's degree in aerospace engineering.

Or study psychology and then work as a psychologist.

I'm very interested in both and have already completed internships in both. But which would be more future-proof and financially better?

There's really no such general answer. I'd say that out of 10 mechanical engineers, after five years in the profession, 8 out of 10 find really good positions, whereas 8 out of 10 psychologists end up in the public sector. The earning potential there (in the higher civil service) isn't too bad, but it's not as good as in the private sector. In addition, getting a place to study psychology is a more difficult undertaking than for mechanical engineering.

That anyway.

I see little chance of getting government-funded jobs in this field. Perhaps in the Bundeswehr.

Aerospace technology definitely has a future.

Psychology probably too, because the number of crazy people is increasing. If you want a serious career, you're probably better off in aerospace engineering, also financially.
