An earthly eclipse or eclipse is an astronomical event in which the sun is partially or completely covered by the moon seen from the earth. The shadow of the moon sweeps over the earth, which is only possible at New Moon. Wikipedia

What happens in a solar eclipse for children?

In a Sun eclipse the moon lies between the sun and the earth. So the sun is covered by the moon. We then see only a part of the sun, then one speaks of a partial or partial Sun eclipse.
