But I’m not 100% sure. Perhaps this means that the predicate in the main set breaks down into 2 parts: Position 2 and Position end so to speak, form a clip around the remaining info, i.e. they frame this info. For example:

  • I Call Tomorrow night at 8:00 on.
  • I you have Last night my friend in Cape Town Called.
  • The Dessert is for at least 3 hours cold:.
  • I Subject a trip to Indonesia make.
  • The patient the already this morning from the boss himself operated.
  • The boss has by his secretary be denied.

Come on! Draw, for example, a red bow from the conjugated verb (2) to the rest (end). That’s the clamp or the bridge. You can also highlight the verbs with red cues. Then it’s even clearer.

(predicated clips, staples or clamps in German)

  • โ€œThe house was demolished. โ€œ without staple.
  • โ€œThe house was demolished some time ago. โ€œwith staple; more words โ€œalready some time agoโ€ are enclosed by the predicate.
