The word Ballade originates from the Occitan language of the South French medieval trobador seal. It was originally a genus of dance song. In German-speaking literature since the 18th century Century a multi-strophe, telling poem called ballad.
The Moritat is a stubborn ballad and the song of the band singer. It is closely related to the bandsang, a kind of message transmission that serves sound, text and image as part of a scenic performance of the media. In this way the audience was directly addressed (in the sense of the axiom “bad news are good news” in order to use the curiosity of the listeners with a sensational message) to the audience. In most cases, in order not to say good and prevent others, moral demands are accompanied by presentation. Bänkelsang became from the 17th to the early 20th. century. What exactly is the relationship between the Moritat and the Bänkelsang is controversial in the usual literature. A media difference is asserted, according to which the band song refers to the “scene and audiovisual”; on the other hand, Moritat refers to the “textual” aspect of the same phenomenon. Furthermore, a difference in the content of the collated message is proposed: if the band song is a murder or atrocities, one speaks of a moritat.
