Hello, since I have little storage space, I'm thinking about putting an SD card into my phone to expand my storage. For this process, however, I would have to briefly remove my SIM card. Would anything happen during this process, for example with my contacts or WhatsApp chats?

No, because your apps stay. If you’re still a little insecure and you’re sure you want to make sure your phone just turn off and put it in! Good luck!
Before you take the SIM card out, turn off your phone. Then you can take the SIM card out and put it back together with the SD card. Then you can turn on the phone again. Now you have to unlock it. The apps will be closed, but you can open them as usual. Also, you don’t have to worry about a data loss.

You may need to reopen the app, but the chats remain.
