What does young Gouda taste like?
Hi, I've never eaten cheese anywhere before and now I want to change that. I was thinking about young Gouda, but what does it taste like? Since I don't eat much in general, I don't really care for mild or creamy cheese. Does it taste like set milk or not, etc.
Young Gouda has a mild, creamy, and slightly sweet flavor. It is typically soft and has a smooth texture. The flavor is less intense than mature Gouda and often contains fresh, milky notes. Sometimes, light nutty or fruity aromas are also present.
The beef is usually thin and can vary depending on the production method. Young Gouda is ideal for snacking, sandwiches, or as part of a cheese platter. It also pairs well with fruit, such as apples or grapes, and pairs well with mild wines.
Actually, nothing.
The "oude" = old Gouda is only slightly better.
That's why it's one of the cheapest cheeses in supermarkets.
I once bought a spiced Gouda cheese directly from Holland many years ago. It was relatively expensive, but fantastic!
It is a little creamier and milder in taste than long-aged (:
