What does this territorial behavior mean in quails?

Hello, I own Chinese dwarf quails.

For some time now, my rooster has been ruffling his feathers. In other words, he's been walking around almost like a peacock 🦚. Something like that.

Unfortunately I don't have a photo😕

Does anyone know why he does this?

PS: Whenever he hears other birds making noises he does this.

I also have dwarf quail chicks and when one of them peeped, my rooster did exactly the same thing again by raising his feathers🤔

The task of a cock is to protect his ladies.

Whenever he hears bird sounds from other birds, he does.

He most likely interprets this as a danger.

Greetings.

I don’t have dwarfs, but our legguards do something like this when they meet another strange cock and the ranking has not yet been clarified. Therefore, I would interpret this as dominants/aggression behavior. So he’s trying to make himself look bigger and more threatening.

Maybe he wants to protect the others, or give them a message?

I’d think of myself now, but I don’t know myself with guards…

Google is always a good solution;-)
