What does this number mean?

Hello gutefrage Community,

I had a discussion today with a classmate who thinks that enormous number (image) that appears when you search for something on Google is the number of times that search has been performed. I'm fairly certain, however, that this number is the number of URLs or search results (which is self-explanatory, but he thinks he knows better). So, can you settle our argument and tell me what that number is?

The over 25 billion are the hits of the search. It is searched for entries that contain “Google”. And this can happen on a website several times, only in the imprint of a company website.

Nö, this should indeed show the alleged hits to your search

I think this is utopian depending on the search term
