What does preloading the game mean?
Hello, I saw the game Destiny 2 on Steam today and it said: Preload Destiny.
The purchase button also said: Free to play and preload game.
Unfortunately, I can't explain what that means.
I just went to preload game and it installed.
Still, I wonder what it's all about.
Can you help me with this?
What exactly do you not understand?
The game comes on 1st October on Steam (changed from Battle.net to Steam) and there it is Free + 1-2 DLCs. The extension Destiny 2: Shadowkeep has to be bought but is not necessary.
Loading ahead is self-explanatory. You can download the game now so you can download it on 1. October can start directly and does not have to download. The advantage here is that the download server is somewhat relieved because not all download at once.
I myself do not play a download version and can therefore only play back what I hear from others, so I ask for an apology if the said is not quite right.
After what I get from others, it means that you can download and install the game once it has not yet appeared (like a pre-order), but can only play when they are released for playing on the release day. So such a digital pre-order is quite pointless.
This is not like a preorder, because you don’t pay anything extra, you have to do something special or something similar.
If you pre-order, you can’t install the game before or so, you get the game and the Bluray of it only on the release tag.
If you pre-load it you can play it in the minute the game is released. If you physically imagine it you have to run to load, pick up the game, run back to home, install the game, probably install a few updates and only then you can play it.
A physical pre-order is more senseless, because when is a game already sold out on the release day or so that you cannot simply buy a copy in the load on the release day.
Btw. am pc there are actually still download versions of play. Because hardly a PC has a bluray player, and to release games on DVD’s you would have to pack 10 or 20 DVD’s in the box.
Preloads and early accesses, as you can see here, are no longer rare for the PC.
Ever ordered at Amazon? There it actually happens that you have the game on the day of appearance in the mailbox, even before, in more subtle cases, which actually does not allow to release the game before appearance. And a regular pre-order in the store or via online retailers is also not more expensive than when you buy it digitally. On the contrary, because the digital versions are often even more expensive, as far as I could observe it in some games. Amazon even offers a low price guarantee. Meaning if the price fluctuates before appearance, you get the most favorable.
Except that you can start playing directly on the release and not only have to download 160 GB. But yes, except for that, it’s quite meaningless.
Well, the questioner, but…
On the playstation and xbox there are also.
How good I don’t play on the PC. Pre-downloads are also available on the switch.
Well, but you still have to install it.
And on the pc there are, as I said, still download versions of AAA games afaik.
Wart ne nice box, but there’s no DVD in there and you still need to download 50gb, or even just a code.
Well, you can download it, but don’t play it.
This allows you to start it directly for the release timepunt.
This is a game with which the publisher can download a demo game. Currently there are many providers or third-party providers that allow users to download using APK files, EXE files, etc. or other formats that are securely installed on a phone or computer: http://techbigs.com
That means you can download it, but only play it from release.
