What does marzipan mean in Kurdish?

I don't know what marzipan means in Kurdish. Is it also called marzipan? I want to ask my mother-in-law if she'd like to try my homemade marzipan-cherry jam. Unfortunately, there's no Kurmanci under the category, so I clicked on Turkish.

Thanks in advance 🙂

In Kurdish (Kurmanji), there is no specific word for marzipan, therefore the word “marzipan” is often used, as in German. So you could just use the word Marzipan to your mother-in-law and say that it’s a German specialty if she doesn’t know it.

You could tell her in Kurdish:

“Te dixwazî birçî marmelada kirîs û marzipanî min bixwî?”

(Do you want to try my homemade cherry marzipan jam?)

If she speaks Turkish, you could also say, “Ev kirazlı marzipan reçelimden denemek ister misin?”

It’s difficult. We Kurds don’t eat marzipan. That’s why I don’t know how to say that in Kurdish. The term “Shirinayi” would be most suitable for this. Is your husband Kurd?.

Well, I’m a Kurd and probably know more Kurds than you. There is no marzipan. We eat our own dishes. Germans also eat more scavengers than Döner. And you’re German? If so, did you learn curd in these 12 years?
