I've been thinking about getting one for my iPad Air. But it's pretty expensive, especially for "just" a keyboard. I'd like to know what people who have it think and whether it's worth the price.

I use the Magic Keyboard.
The keyboard is definitely not bad, so much is fixed. I’ve been using it for two years+ and she still looks pretty good and does her work. The magnetic mount for the iPad is perfect when you move back and forth. I would go so far that this function is even one of the—if not the— decisive purchasing argument.
The second version is still a little more high-quality, but here I have no further reviews.
So:
->The actual job of a keyboard will make many other keyboards the same or at least similar, probably only cost half or less.
The buttons are relatively pleasant, the touchpad works super, is a bit too narrow, yet safe to use. The quality in general is very good, though the materials-the price could be considerative-better, but of course are by no means bad…but my knowledge all the points that the second generation solves.
Just because I previously, frankly, use a stinky keyboard with holding function, but I didn’t like it well, I’m very happy with my keyboard. To whom the holding function is particularly important and the quality is at first place, it can reach the keyboard without care, unless it blows the budget.
