craftsmanship, the necessary tool (depends on how furniture is to be built or internally designed), an idea, a van, an idea of the legal requirements and how sufficiently stable furniture is to be built …
And most importantly, the ability of all youtube tutorials of people who have developed a van for the first time in their lives and now think for the experts to find out who really knows and who doesn't. Unfortunately, there are many dangerous semi-knowledge and nonsense.
And how much money you need depends on your own claim and what equipment the van should have.
Only roughly a bed, or a “correct extension” in the “luxury version” with insulation, heating, gas system, lithium battery, solar system, inverter, wet cell etc.
… depends on your requirements and your craft skills. We used to throw mattress & coolbox in the company van for festivals & holidays and the vanlife was finished:)
If you are handcrafted and are also willing to invest in your expansion and in your base vehicle time, you are ready for a narrow valley – up there are no limits. Makes sense to look in specialist forums and not to ask at gf…
For the van you can already pay 5-10 000€ plus another 4-5 for expansion. And then you're really low budget. It may be cheaper to look after a change. Then the total is probably €12,000 +/-.
If the base of the van is not true, the extension can also be forgotten.
Depending on the state in which you buy the van but I would say very rough €20,000 (of course it is also much cheaper, but the cheaper the van, the more KFZ knowledge you should have)
And don't forget, of course, you need the right license if B2 is not enough for your van. You have to remember that at the expense. And you need an admission for the van.
Do you already have concrete ideas and wishes? Should it be a VW Sprinter? Or rather an old-timer?

Either a VW Bulli or a normal van
There is no driving class B2. The ordinary car class is simply B.
