What do you do after Windows 10 support ends?

Good morning

The question is more aimed at people who want to stay with Windows 10 and do not want to switch to 11:

What are you doing to stay on Windows 10? Because I don't see any added value in paying for security updates.

The others are of course also very welcome!

Just try Linux Mint from Livestick. You can install this when it suits you as a dual-boot system next to Windows and use it for Internet activities, Office etc. And if you want to shock any games that don’t run there, you’ll take your old Windows, but then without the above activities. Could work a few more years.

Because I see no added value paying money for security updates.

You don’t need security updates if you use the device with an unsupported operating system OFFLINE.

For online use, it is in your own interest to switch to a current operating system for which there are security updates. For how do you want to make sure that you did everything you could to comply with the GDPR? Although it is quite silent about “current state of the art”, this does not satisfy an operating system for which there are no security updates….

So there are only two options for online use:

a) switch to a current operating system
b) use the paid update supply for an outdated operating system.

What are you doing to stay at win 10?

Use OFFLINE (on older devices that are not suitable for W11 unless there is an alternative in the form of Linux).

Does it mean installing Windorws 11? I was planning to make myself smart the next time.

Would advise you to test a Linux in a virtual machine so that you can end up with Windows 10 support.

My tip for you to try out is Linux Mint or Ubuntu are both very stable systems.

Pay money? I could upgrade from 10 to 11.

Before Win xp got a firewall, you had a virus faster than you could download and update a virus scanner. Win has 10,000de errors, few can be taken as a vulnerability.

Hey,

If you don’t get any more security updates, you should definitely change.

I’ll stay until the updates are no longer free and maybe 1 more year. Then I change to Win 11

Then I’ll stay until then. I mean, I grew up with Win 10

I grew up with Windows XP and don’t use it anymore. All old rubbish systems are far too uncertain. But you can, of course, pay for security updates, probably until the next change.
