Three pilots?

On a Boeing 737/Airbus A320, etc., there are always only 2 pilots.

3 pilots are actually only on long distances.

What do they do? On the altitude of the trip not so much. Monitoring systems, stay in contact with air traffic control, etc. and then prepare the approach.

In fact, no aeroplane lands 😉

In the case of old mid-range aircraft there were also 3 pilots, for example, the 727 had a board engineer

On short and medium distance are always only 2 pilots in the cockpit, on long distance 3, sometimes even 4. (While not all are at the same time in the cockpit.)

What are they doing? Talking to air traffic control, monitoring systems, talking, drinking coffee, eating, preparing the landing approach. So gives enough to do;-)

Fucking FB?

Take care of the plane?

Three pilots are not always required, and if, then only on some long distances to comply with the maximum permitted active service time.

Then the moment comes when three flight attendants enter the cockpit and cannot be reached for a while for the passengers.

Once accepted, a small aircraft without a piling flies to collision course. Then the pilots have to dodge manually without autopilot
