What do I need to show as a student ticket (NRW)?

Hello!

Since I will be starting my studies in the coming months, I have received a student ticket that I will use public transport within North Rhine-Westphalia.

This was sent to me by the university for download and must be printed out myself, meaning it's a printed sheet and not a plastic ticket or card. (See image below)

Now my question is, what exactly do I have to show the bus driver when I get on the bus? Is this piece of paper enough, or do I also have to show my student ID? After all, the buses have a ticket validation device at the front near the driver, which shows the validity of the tickets when they stop, and then students arrive with a printed piece of paper.

I would be happy to receive helpful answers!

Only the semester ticket has to be presented to the bus driver (if they are interested in it at all). Controllers often ask for the student ID and a photo ID.

That would have to be somewhere on the map or in the documents provided with it.

if there is nowhere "only valid in connection with …" then probably goes without a student ID.

You should always take the latter. There are sometimes nice discounts.

Then just show the wizard. The inspector will tell you if he wants to see the student card
