What could I do?
I love dancing and have been dancing for about nine years, and I'm pretty good. I've been thinking for a while about whether I want to do something creative as a Jon. Something like a professional dancer, back-dancer, something like that. But I don't know how to even start or pursue something like that. Do you have to be a certain age for something like that? Do you have to meet certain criteria? Where do you have to apply for something like that (if you have to)? How do I become one of those people? Can I make a living from it? Thanks in advance. Best regards
It’s great that you’ve been dancing for so long and thinking about going on this way! There are several ways you could catch up in the dance industry. Here are some tips and steps that might help you:
1.Education and training: Even if you have a lot of experience, it is important to deepen your dance training. Visit dance schools, take part in workshops, and expand your repertoire (different dance styles, technique, choreography). Some dancers also make a professional training in dance academies.
Two.Networks: The dance industry lives from contacts. Visit events, fairs or festivals where you can exchange with other dancers, choreographers and professionals. Social media are also an important channel to become visible. Create a portfolio that shows your best dances and choreographies.
3.Applications and castings: To work as a dancer, you need to apply to agencies or dance and production companies. There are also regular castings for professional dancers or back dancers for music videos, live shows, theatre productions and other performances. See regularly in dance forums or job portals after casting announcements.
4.Age and criteria: There is no fixed age limit, but in many areas, such as back-dancing with large artists, a younger age is often preferred, especially when it comes to energy and appearance. The most important thing is that you are physically fit and well-trained. For certain jobs, a certain stage presence and radiation may also be important.
Five.Living: Yes, it is quite possible to live from dance, but the competition is great and the way to a solid dance job is often challenging. Many dancers work as freelancers, participate in different projects or teach dance to secure their income. Some also work as dancers in dance shows, cruise ships or theatres.
If you’re serious, it can help you find a professional agency from the outset or introduce yourself to dance producers and choreographers. The way often requires stamina, but with passion and commitment it is possible to succeed in the dance industry!
