While watering my Monstera, I just discovered this fungus growing out of the soil. Is it harmful to the plant? Why is it growing out of the soil? Have I perhaps watered too often?
Look at Wikipedia for “Verbandung”.
There is also a photo of lion’s tooth with bandages, as I have often seen before. I think this is a mutation. But there it is better and more sensitive.

No, as much as I know, not.
Plant growers try to generate mutations, by radioactive irradiation, or chemicals. But this only increases the number of mutations. What comes out of it can’t be said.
