What can the WiFi provider see?

If I'm on a different Wi-Fi network, what exactly can that person or company find out?

The fact that you can see which websites you have been to is understandable and no longer a secret.

But what about apps like Instagram?

Does the WiFi provider only see that the app is installed or how much detail can the provider provide?

Can the provider read my Instagram messages? Or how often and for how many minutes I spend on the app?

If yes: How long is such information stored?

Please only answer if you are really sure 🙏🏼

Many thanks in advance

Does the Wlan provider only see that the app is installed or how far can the provider go into detail?

The provider sees what traffic you have. This can be well observed in the traffic.

Can the provider read my Instagram? Or how often and how many minutes I am on this app?

Yes, you can well understand this with the traffic, but as long as you don’t use http, you can’t read messages

No, as I said, you can only view the traffic, and then (e.g. by requesting dns via http) derive when you used the app approximately.

Yes, tracking on IG and other social apps are encrypted you should already be a mega hacker to do something there

Such a profound monitoring of your traffic would require at least one information. Talk to the company’s IT administration in case of doubt.
