What's wrong with our snowball?

Hello community! We've had a beautiful snowball tree for a few years now, but last year it was a bit puny due to aphids. Now I notice that it has strange spots on its trunk. Should I be worried and treat it? Does it have a fungus?

Hello,

No, no need to worry, they’re just lichens! Very pleasing creatures, symbioses of algae and mushrooms that settle on the bark of woods. They live from the water that runs along the small stem during rain, the dust that it brings and the photosynthesis that the algae partner operates.
