What's wrong with going out during exam time?

I keep reading about people saying that during the exam period they just lock themselves away, study 24/7 and under no circumstances go out or socialize.

I'm taking my first exam in almost exactly four weeks. I summarized the content after every lecture, and for the past two weeks I've been working on revision and exercises. I'm doing about 7-8 hours of university work every day.

So what's wrong with going out for a drink, or dinner, or to a concert once a week if you get home early enough to be able to concentrate on studying the next day?

Nothing. You seem very disciplined and have a good time schedule. Some students will envy you for that.

But not everyone is that easy. Locking in is more of an emergency solution. If I know that I have appointments in the evening, I can't concentrate properly in the afternoon.

If you have a good plan, you can enjoy your free time. But whoever is severely in the process of learning and almost doubts the feasibility, will not have much fun even in leisure activities in the exam phase when one of the stress is in the neck. In any case, I often felt that way and then you can actually leave it the same. Celebration means for me not having to adhere to a (time) plan.

Alcohol and other drugs (except caffeine) would, however, be avoided in the exam phase.

Then what does it say to drink once a week, or to go to dinner, or to a concert when you're home early enough to learn how to concentrate the next day?

Nothing. Doesn't mind going out every night – you also need time to relax between the learning phases and not just learn

It should be a healthy measure – and everyone must find it

Nothing, in the opposite. This can even help you get your head free again – if you don't overdo it. so drink a drink yes, be drunk no

And that's exactly how I did it – even if I had "only" real school degree -.

Or even once a day before a school job simply largely abstained, nothing new learned but only repeated. Well, I could and had relatively good grades.

You have to go out. I always made the mistake as you described, really 8 hours a day to learn. But at the latest after the 7th or 8th hour, the brain is no longer so absorbent.

Then there is more to take a break and go somewhere, and then the next day, in the same time, to create a higher level of learning, rather than a 9. To torment hour with learning for fabric that you could create rested in 2 minutes.

The week before the exam I would no longer go out – except for short trips like shopping or walking in the park. But if the exam, as with you, is still far away, it can be done… " can be afforded."… Oh, now I've got the doctors flashback. " you can afford it…be polite and say nothing that annoys them most " from "Laughing"

What speaks against going out in the exam phase?

Nothing. You need to know what's best for you.

I am also not one who is going to celebrate in the evening during the exam phase (I don't do that anyway and it would probably break my rhythm a bit), but I was eating spontaneously with a friend. To celebrate my upcoming birthday and (I believe) Wimbledon round 3.

Then just ignore it. You'll know what's best for you, I think.
