Workshop needs the vehicle registration document for service – Why?
I want to take my newly purchased car in for its first service and oil inspection. The dealership wants me to email a photo of the vehicle registration document first, and only then will they call me back to schedule an appointment. Why is this being done? To prove that the car belongs to me? Wouldn't it be sufficient if I showed the registration document in person when I had my appointment there? It's a reputable dealership, but the whole thing is confusing me 😃
With the key numbers, the exact spare parts can be determined and ordered. What oil, oil filter, air filter, oil drain screw, etc.
This is completely normal and facilitates the purchase of spare parts.
They need the exact information from the papers to make the right service and order the necessary parts.
The so-called key numbers are included in the vehicle certificate.
These key numbers are required if you want to get the appropriate spare/wear parts, because manufacturers occasionally make changes.
In the past, therefore, it was often necessary to specify the chassis number.
They need parts for inspection. In the vehicle registration, all necessary data are available to order the correct parts.
Well, without vehicle data, the workshop cannot work with your car.
