I have put together a poster for my old-timer, which I mount on old-timer hits. Many visitors do not know this technique. By the way, it was used in a modified form on the company TWN (Triumph Werke Nuremberg) known for typewriters.

Puch 125 SV 1965 with 2-stroke double piston engine

The construction of the double-piston 2-stroke engine of Italian engineer Giovanni Marcellino then saved Puch from bankruptcy. The double-piston technology is fast moving and Puch sold it between 1953 and 1967. In 1965, when this machine reached the road, only 178 pieces left the production halls in Graz.

Thanks to the forked connecting rod, asymmetric control times could be realized which ensured that the flow losses during the gas exchange were almost completely eliminated. This greatly reduces the consumption of gasoline and also gives the engine a characteristic exhaust noise.

Technical data:

Engine power: 6.5 hp at 5800/min

Max. torque: 1.0 mkg at 3500/min

Hole x Hub: 2×38 x 55 mm

Compression: 7.0 : 1

Consumption: 2.2 l/100 km

Tank capacity: 13 litres

Maximum speed: 75 km/h

The technology was very expensive in terms of production technology and the piston bolts also had to have a little play, due to the construction. Thus, the liter capacity was limited and the final end of this interesting technique was launched in 1967 due to the high production costs.

History of this machine:

This plague was bought by the older brother of the current owner as Occasion 1975. In 1977, the owner, the current owner and their father (then 63 years old) have completed the heavy opening examination.

Between 1986 and 2018, it was stored until the current owner bought it to the brother and now it as an oldtimer on 10. October 2018 restarted.

No…

Unfortunately, the new registration of cars and motorcycles with two-stroke motor has been prohibited since 2017.

That’s wrong. New vehicles with a 2-stroke engine are very well manufactured, which are capable of approval. See KTM EXC 300. Only the new Euro standard in 2017 made it more difficult and no longer so profitable to manufacture and sell motorcycles with a 2-stroke engine, which is why there are now only 2-strokes that can be approved in the enduro area.
