Who pays the health insurance?

Hello, I'm a trainee in Baden-Württemberg. Until now, I've been covered by family insurance through my working mother, but that's about to change.

My training is a school-based apprenticeship for which I receive no remuneration; I actually have to pay for it myself. I'm also currently waiting for BaFög.

You can imagine that I definitely don't have the money to pay €200 a month for health insurance!

My mother recently married and lives in North Rhine-Westphalia. She is now insured through her husband instead of her job. (She quit, hence the switch to his health insurance.)

On the phone, the employee told my mother that I could not be covered by her and her husband's family insurance because I live in another state.

Is this true or not? Does anyone here know the law? Is the employee just trying to get me to pay extra so they can make more money?

Thank you for your possible answers.

If you can no longer be included in family insurance, then you have to take the health insurance from your own pocket at the place here – or you can’t do this training.

I can’t say anything about the federal state, but you can’t be family-insured if your mother is now in her husband’s insurance – whose child you are obviously not. You could only be family-insured about your mother, but only if she doesn’t even hang in the family insurance of another. The “main insurance provider” has nothing to do with you at this point.

At the moment you get Bafög you have to insure yourself. Now, of course, some information is missing here. Your age, you still live with your mother, your father still lives and is legally insured.

A school education, is it a measure or a training where you have to bear the cost yourself, as it used to beo PTA`s?

Then it is so that you can also apply for civic money in addition to Bafög, as far as I know. In that case, the office would pay health insurance. You should make yourself more accurate than Bafög isn’t enough to settle the way you live. You may also receive training aid from the Office ALG1. You live alone?

You can also be insured with the stepfather at the request (when it also comes up for your maintenance – and you are registered with the mother with 1st place of residence) or via Bafög. Then you would have a higher claim – but you must refer to it in the request.
