In principle, WEP is cracked in a few seconds. So it doesn’t make a difference in terms of security whether you use a public (unencrypted) WLAN or WEP doesn’t matter.
A solution for old devices would be from my point of view: Get an old router/access point, clamp the socket that can be connected to your router and a (core) socket. You will then build a WEP-encrypted or unencrypted network that will protect you with a MAC address filter. And turn on this router / AP only if you need the insecure network.
You can get the old routers at the usual suspects, like ebay un Co. You might have a look at DD-WRT before. This is initially really confusing for a normal user, but there can also be a lot with the old techniques and this runs on many old devices.
You’d have to make a hotspot on your phone and then set it without encryption.
The thing with the DS is, unfortunately, so bad.
But apart from a Nintendo USB Wifi-Conntector, I also don’t know any other option than this.
Consider that you need to reconfigure your DNS online as the Nintendo Wifi Connection no longer exists.
does not go without password, and at android it didn’t work either. hate it ey
You cannot set a hotspot without password under iOS?
What hadn’t worked in Android?
the problem is that even if I make a hotspot without password per android that is not even displayed under the access pointe
if the android doesn’t show me: can I do this manually at ds and connect it and if so how does it go
WEP is so outdated and safety-related that it is no longer supported by a modern router, as it was crackable in seconds.
The only thing you could do now is to activate the guest access and put it on “public”.
Then you can connect your DS without password entry.
But if you’re done with it, you’d be deactivated directly.
Not even if your network’s security means something.
WEP is completely outdated and hasn’t been safe for a long time.
