When I stand in front of the cage and close my eyes, one of the budgies looks at me and also closes its eyes.

Das ist vermutlich ein Zeichen der Entspannung. Zumindest konnten einige andere als auch ich dieses Phänomen beobachten.
Meine Nymphensittiche reagieren auch auf das langsame Blinzeln. Das soll wohl signalisieren “Ich bin entspannt”.
