Ps: Grüße an Gregor
One could find out the sex very early on with the inheritance of certain color beats – but for that it also must be these color beats.
Otherwise it is quite different. In some, you can see it already at 4-6 weeks, in others it takes longer and in very rare cases you have to resort to a DNA test or pay attention to the behavior when the waves are sexually mature.
I can usually see it clearly at 6 weeks, with all the chicks I had with me so far. Except for a hen, I actually had to test a DNA. The behavior was typical of a cock and the wax skin was light blue, but also not as bright as it would have been normal for a hen.

Here you can also see good example pictures. With enough experience, the sex can be recognized quite early.
It’s really difficult with chicks. I had raised a waver myself. That was a cock, so I called him Maxi. Only after a year turned out, it was a hen. But because she got used to the male name and heard it, I kept him.
The term “worm” is not used in ornithology.
This is called broods, nests or hedges.
The sexes of nest-young wave-sittich chicks cannot be determined by the conventional method, i.e. by the color of the wax skin (Ceres).
The only possibility for gender determination in wave-sittich chicks after the appearance is limited to the sometimes possible genetic prediction of gender-bound phenotypes.
What do you understand?
For example:
1.0 Lutino x 0.1 Normal
—> 50 % 0,1 Lutino
—> 50 % 1.0 Normal/Spalt Lutino
In this particular genetic constellation it is known that all the hen chicks are Lutino.
And all cocks are normal.
Here, the sexes can be seen already in the naked or flattened chicks by means of the eye color, even with still closed eyes in the first days of life, or also by means of the dune color of the secondary dune feather.
Such an early sex determination by taking into account is, however, rather the exception than the rule and requires specific genetic knowledge of wave breeding.

Another addition:
Otherwise, the experienced breeder recognizes the sexes of the chicks in the 4th, 5th or at the latest 6. Life week is quite sure if he sees the birds or keeps them even better.
