Which lighter should I use to light a cigar?

Evening,

I wanted to ask which lighter I should use to light a cigar: a gas or petrol lighter? I've read that gas lighters can alter the flavor of the cigar. But when I light my Zippo like that, I can smell the petrol, so I'm not entirely sure.

As you have noticed correctly (and read incorrectly), your Zippo changes the taste of the cigar through the gasoline. Therefore always gas lighters or sulphur-free!!! Take matches. Special cigarrenhölzers are recommended here – like chimney woods but are definitely sulphur-free.

In gas lighters, jet flames are recommended as they can quickly ignite the cigars. But you can also take any other gas lighter.

If you want to have this without any impairment, use matches. It also looks best and is the best decision by far.

However, if it is to be a lighter, jet lighters would probably be the next choice, i.e. cigar lighters, which are usually sold in tobacco shops.

Jetflame lighters are worth it.
