Which car (make/model) for my purposes?

Hi community!

I have an urgent question and don't know anyone I can turn to.

I am looking for a used car that must be able to do the following:

– stable and safe, as I drive a lot on the highway

– Trailer coupling (for horse trailer, so quite a bit of weight) and strong body

– up to 5000€

– as stable as possible and low maintenance/repair

Please tell me a few brands and models so I can do more targeted research.

Thanks for any help! 😊

I could recommend you a Hyundai Santa Fe, I’ve been driving no problems since 2008 and so far. With this I easily pull my caravan, with 1.75 t. repairs, …….only wear parts like brakes, still the first exhaust.Consumption is between 6.9 and 8.2 L with hanger and quickly driven. Tensile load is 2.5 t, actually enough for a horse trailer. At the support load it also comes to the AHK, mine has 80 KG, but there are also those for 120Kg, the Hyundai may also.

Unfortunately, I have to tell you that until now I have had no problems, so I will drive my Santa Fe until I get my FS off, because an e-car does not come into the garage.

I’m happy for you. Nevertheless, the Santa Fe is not necessarily considered very reliable.

for a horse trailer you will need a high trailer load.

the trailer load depends on the weight and the supporting load of the towing vehicle.

this must be difficult accordingly.

Cars with high trailer load are certain larger SUVs, such as VW Touareg, BMW X5, RangeRover Vogue.

with a budget of 5,000€ you can’t get far.

My car has the highest trailer load for cars (3,5T) but such a RangeRover Vogue costs 15,000€+ very quickly in good condition, even those of 2007.

VW Touareg is also at €15,000+, except the old one.

The best way to buy it from a dealer with warranty might be to find something but you will definitely have to increase your budget.

I would first recommend an older Mercedes E-Class – there are up to 5,000 euros in quite promising condition; the W210 often has typical rusts, but technically the vehicles are solid and can be recommended even at high mileage when they are well maintained. All conditions such as comfort, traceability, reliability, high trailer load (I do not have in mind, but the E-Class is a durable trainer) and price/performance are met. I myself drive a 19-year-old Mercedes E-Class (Limousine), which I earned last year from the first hand (88-year-old Lord) with a checkbook for under 5,000 euros and I am very satisfied, driving is also pleasant on a longer distance.

One kind of secret tip is the Citroen C5 HDi Break from ca. 2003, a very reliable and comfortable combination with hydroactive feed (which is mature, you don’t have to be afraid), you should also get for 5,000 euros. Know some owners who are all satisfied; recommended is an automatic transmission (from ZF in Friedrichshafen, was then also installed in various BMWs and is as easy as the whole Citroen). In contrast to Mercedes, there is no grate problem here.

Before you buy a rare old Korea SUV of already marginal “quality” or any Opel Omega B Caravan (toll car and from 1999 solid, but unfortunately rarely maintained in contrast to the limousine) or a finished Ford Mondeo Mk3 tournament with TDCi motor and 280.000 kilometers etc., the old Mercedes E-Class would certainly be the best solution – or just the Citroen C5 Break if you would find it worth it. An absolutely valued car.

With nem usually motorized combination to pull a horse hanger, but is also adventurous. It would have to be a strong 6-ender, diesel or gasoline. Neither at the Omega a recommendation, nor at the C5. Both neither low maintenance nor repair, just like the Santa Fe, and expensive, nor

You have set a very high target.

With safety-limiting probability, there is only one absolute tube in your case.

With your criteria and requirements, I see black with 5000€. It’s a dream dance.
