Hallo liebe Community, Ich habe gerade eine Chance, einen sprinter 211 cdi ’08 zu kaufen. Ich betreibe im Nebengewerbe Baumfällungen und daher wäre dieser echt praktisch für mich. Der Preis beträgt 4000€ und er hat 158000 km gelaufen. Mein Problem dabei ist nur, dass die Motorkontrolleuchte blinkt, soweit ich das gelesen habe, könnte sich da…

Both are not good.

Firstly, both are in the vehicle age where the problems begin so slowly.

Secondly, both control chains are not known for your reliability.

  • The TSI control chain sire in the VW group (equivalent to TFSI) is literally
  • BMW is also notorious for control chain problems in the four cylinders, as reported in forum reports, see here:

“Naja, the 116i or the built-in N13B16 already has its problems. Stamping the control chains as unproblematic is difficult.. Too many of them are obvious.

There are also

– Coolant loss of any kind

-broken joints at the steering

– Wastegate rattles

-coolant pump from turbo

-Cross seal”

I would generally not recommend

  • take a car from this era with control chain
  • for such an old car to put such a high amount
  • such an old car with completely uselessly expensive technology such as turbocharger, charge air cooler, camshaft adjustment (audio) or Valvetronic (BMW) to buy
  • A Mazda 3 without all this unnecessary crap technique overkill is more reliable because just less is what can break.

but this is a BMW 114i and below it is stated that the control chain has been changed

Just the fact that the control chain had to be exchanged during this tedious running performance shows what a scrap BMW is building in!!!

for gf.net are sometimes such cars even for 2000€ too expensive
