Which engine for the BMW E90 320i N46 or N43?
So first of all hello
So my question is, I've wanted a BMW 320i E90 as my first car since I was 15. I'm now 18, will get my license in the middle of the year and then scrape together a bit of money to get the car. However, I've heard that the N43 engine is worse than the N46 engine. Can anyone help me with which engine is more reliable? I wanted to get the car with an automatic transmission and can you get a reliable 320i for a maximum of €5000?
Kind regards
In my opinion, the N46 is the more stable of both.
I myself have both an E90 318i with N43 and an E90 318i with N46b20b (129 PS + 180Nm). I personally find that the N43 (143 hp + 200Nm) is much too exaggerated (+14 hp +20 Nm). while my N46b20b was built in 2007 until now 297.520km without serious problems (Untight oil filter housing and oil cooler 120€ + 1 hour. time spent in the driveway),
was the N43 year of construction 2008 with a running performance of approx. 230.000km more often on stage (control chain, chain tensioner, cylinder head gasket, valve cover gasket, oil chips,… approx. 6800€ + countless hours in the workshop)
Owned the N46 for longer. Both cars were used daily and were delivered to the same everyday circumstances.
Have the N46 been driving for a little more than 2.5 years (60.000km).
I left the N43 after 6 months as it became too expensive (15,000km of self-propelled).
Both cars were without defects when purchased.
Let me say that we have a Plymouth Belvedere junkjard gasoline, but after 300000 km we have refitted him on Diesel V8. The reason was that the petrol engine is not so heavy and is more susceptible to the principle! As a normal car we also have a diesel, VW Phhaetonn W12 special edition with diesel engine from Bentley! He has already driven over 700,000 km of one replacement engine or motor problems! The previous E 320 d touring diesel had a side damage after 3 weeks, but still mobile but completely pressed in from the front to the back! (it’s a ride in the roundabout, stands as a project in the garage) I would take the E 320 d, but you can also for max. Used 500€ to install a diesel in the 320i e90! My father is a dealer and has a business, so the tricks
Ok so you mean you can turn a benziner into a diesel but the same would give me a roaring fall due to insurance and tax
Yes, I understand, but what you pay for taxes and conversion costs are you paying to the gasoline for engine revisions, reperatures and for new replacement engines!
Which VW Phaeton has a Bentley engine? Tell me.
I didn’t say much. If you don’t have a plan of something you should look for a post to which you can give an adequate answer instead of writing anything unrelated.
This is almost like the famous choice between Pest and Cholera, because both are unusually vulnerable – compared to the predecessor M43, which was very good. At the N46 it is the Valvetronic, at the N43 it is the injectors and NOx sensors. Both have problems with early increased oil consumption and comparatively short-lasting control chains.
Pretty everyone, VW has sold former chassis to Bentley and Bentley has developed engines!
Sorry there’s no article but there’s him! Would also send you photos if I were on the phone, but I’m just on the computer
Okay.
