Lieben Dank
Eure Amanda
This would certainly be the wrong decision at the moment, because the war in Ukraine will make it increasingly difficult to get to specific spare parts in the future.
And spare parts are needed in the Lada Niva, especially in the gear, next to the grate a Niva-duration theme. After all, you can put it at a price when-, yes when you get to parts.
One of the problems of the Niva apart from the spare part situation is not even the grate, because it is still relatively good to handle. Probably the frequently occurring oil loss on engine and gearbox.
The TÜV no longer understands fun. Crankshaft dimmer ring, cylinder head and valve cover seal etc. only cost Micky Mouse money, but letting out with motor, if necessary Block and cylinder head planners are still labor-intensive.
Without a skilled specialist, it is not possible to drive Russian cars. But if even this no longer knows, it becomes lasngly narrow:

The next thing that went in the direction of price would be a Dacia Duster, although it is clear to me that this is not an equivalent substitute. Alternatively, there would only be Suzuki Jimny (if you get one at all, extremely desirable).
There is a secret tip from Suzuki, however: all Suzuki Vitara/Grand Vitara by 2015 kept features of real off-road vehicles:
Or older pickups such as Ford Ranger, Toyota HiLux, Nissan Navara, Isuzu D-Max, Mitsubishi L200 etc., almost only available with diesel engine and therefore costly affected by tax or driving bans in environmental zones. On the other hand, they have almost one ton of charge and are therefore basically the right vehicle to pick up wood in the forest or to pull a trailer.
Conclusion: The Lada Niva is only partly up to its image. Its high terrain is out of question, but the reputation of special robustness is mostly a myth. The Niva with its self-supporting body was in the former Soviet Union serving the police, customs, etc. but never in the military. This was the role of the more robust UAZ 469, traditionally constructed with a supporting conductor frame, with a switch-on instead of a permanet all-wheel drive.
YES, that with the parts actually seems to be a problem. Thanks for the detailed answer and the thought prompts

If you do a lot of yourself no drama but to regular workshop hours an expensive fun.

No, the NIVA is already a fascinating car. My neighbor has one. But he also works in a KFZ workshop and can do everything himself
You want to take me off my dream to drive a lada 😉
You seem to have a lot of experience with a NIVA, do you have one yourself or have you had one?
I find the NIVA simply cultivated, as I am not an ordinary person, I also did not want to drive an ordinary car;-)
So for me, the decision is that I get a NIVA… it’s just the question of what year of construction and what engine, probably only the 1.7 will come into question…
Is in itself a good off-road vehicle, which is also “real”. reduction, short wheelbase, all-wheel, good ground clearance and good angle of slope.
Alternatively, a Suzuki Jimmny or Vitara would be 3 doors, Pajero Pinin. You should have a budget of about 8500€ and buy good terrain tyres.
No one.
All of them are not very reliable and have massive rust problems.
I know that with rust, but that they are unreliable I read for the first time:-/
However, in particular the transmission is unreliable. After all, you can set it up inexpensive if-, yes when you get to parts
Hey Amanda ✨🙂!
My wife has one, she loves him. newly purchased in 2020. It even has seat heating.
The only thing you should pay attention to is whether the Niva is preserved & sealed. Because the only enemy is the rust.
Otherwise they are very reliable and robust. A grateful car with only one selectable motorization. If you like to read something in Nina Foren, there you will be more informed than with semi-knowing pseudo-truths of the hearing-say.

Great, thank you. Unfortunately, the money is not enough for a new Niva:-/
That’s why it’s gonna be a used one.
I see. But the Diva are also used to be quite expensive or very low in price decline. Just because they are so reliable.
No one. I wouldn’t buy a Russian crap.
Understand and be 100% with you. We had bought our before the cowardly war of attack, and we would certainly have a stomachache with it.
I don’t know what this has to do with politics right now.
But I don’t have to understand everything… I’m blond and a woman;-)
