English is definitely enough. All Sweden, even the older generation, has already had English lessons from primary school, which was not common in this country 20 years ago. In addition, films are not synchronized in Sweden except for children’s films and are shown in original tone with subtitles. And since it’s annoying to always pay attention to the subtitles, they are forced to deal automatically with the English language.

In Sweden, everyone, whether academics or assistants, speaks and understands English at least in terms of vocabulary.

But German knowledge is also widespread in Sweden.

Theoretically English is absolutely sufficient. Almost every Swedish can communicate well in English. At the same time, I can also highly recommend learning at least a few Swedish words. The language is comparatively easy to learn for German native speakers, as there are great overlaps.

And what opportunity is better to learn the language than a visit to the respective country.

Yes, English is absolutely enough in Sweden. The Scandinavians are the best non-native English speakers in the world.

I can confirm that.

All right. Sweden generally speaks well English. Often better than us. At least where tourists are. In the hinterland, where you will probably not meet locals as a tourist, it may be a bit more difficult to meet English speaking people.
