I get a lot of negative reviews and some people just don't want to accept it, which often ends with them switching to a personal level.

This is somewhat understandable and reminiscent of the cave parable, where people defend their opinions, which have been drilled into them by their media (filter bubble), to the death. Here, they have the power to confirm their opinion with a click, but this actually has nothing to do with evaluating quality. Therefore, I rarely rate because it doesn't say much.

Actually, ratings (thumbs up or down) only show which opinions are represented by how many people on GuteFrage. For example, which party does the most public relations work, or to put it more directly, which troll factory has the most employees, or who is most motivated to express their opinion.

So what is the purpose of rating answers?
