What nominal diameter for gutters?

Hello!

I'm currently building a gazebo. It will have a pent roof. The pent roof is about 5 m wide and has a floor area of about 20 m². Now I'm wondering what nominal diameter I should use for a 5 m gutter to ensure proper roof drainage. Sure, I could play it safe and use a 150 mm nominal diameter, but there are smaller ones available. Which would you use, or is there a formula for calculating the nominal diameter?

At 20 m2, a 50 – 60mm is sufficient. In the construction market there are finished channels incl. Pipe. that is completely sufficient.

In the soil pipework, possibly. 75mm

Steel sheet or copper channels have a connection 80mm, with a drain to 100mm into the floor.

For me, this is oversized for a 20m2 roof.

150mm! – In the least cases, they are a main drainage line from the plot to the sewer.

In the end, it should look kind of good – and a 150 tube in orange at the Laube is now not my first choice…

Hello,

We have a saddle roof with ~80m2 that reliably drains the water with a 100 channel and downpipe, however, since this roof is somewhat steeper, it can happen once in the case of heavy rain that the channel swaps over, which is likely to be the case with a pitch roof that is not so steep, so I think that you are well advised with 100mm!

A pitch roof is not steep + 20 m2 not large. I would not expect to take a standard trough with about 100 mm + a downpipe with 80 mm. That’s enough. A smaller one would not be cheaper. A 120 would be oversized.

diameter 10 cm = 100 mm =

So 100 NW / nominal width is the most appropriate because even less constipation
