What options do I have if Hermes doesn’t deliver?
I need some advice. I ordered a cell phone from Otto on Thursday, June 20th, because I had good experiences with it a few years ago. Everything went smoothly with the order itself. Today, Saturday, June 22nd, the package should be delivered via Hermes.
At 11:26, I received a notification that Hermes was unable to deliver the package at 11:16 because no one was at home. This can't be true, however, since all three residents of the building were at home. My father was even in the garden, and my mother was cleaning the hallway with the front door open. There was no car parked nearby, nor was there any employee in sight, so, of course, no one rang the doorbell.
About 20 minutes after the alleged delivery attempt, I called Hermes. A foreign employee with a strong accent answered the phone, and even though he was very difficult to understand, the nice gentleman tried to help me. After he put me on hold for over 10 minutes, he just mumbled something unintelligible and said the next delivery attempt would take place on Monday. I then described my situation again using the Hermes contact form. Just to be on the safe side.
What would happen if Hermes were to repeat the same situation on Monday? What other options would I have if the worst came to the worst? I've never been in a situation like this before, so I'm not familiar with it. It's logical that I have to wait and see for now, but what could I do if the situation were to repeat itself or if other problems with Hermes arise regarding my package?
