What clothes did prisoners wear on the death marches?
Not in the camps, but actually on the marches. Because depending on how long the march lasted—sometimes a few days, sometimes a few weeks—temperatures of -20 degrees Celsius would not have been bearable in thin (often blue and white striped) prisoner clothing.
Your inmate clothes and maybe a couple of blankets that were driven up somewhere.
This is why the marches are also called death marches, because here completely under-nourished people have been driven through the land in too thin clothing at some of the freezing temperatures. Those who became too weak and remained were either shot or left to die.
Okay. There are also some recordings where people are watching, the coats, etc. Where did they get them?
From the magazines. New arrivals were removed in the warehouse and collected in large storage rooms. There, prisoners also worked and they could smuggle hot clothes into the camp by tricks or in exchange for bread.
