I have been a satisfied savings bank customer for years – but this certainly also depends on what claims you have to a bank and there are my relatively simple ones.

However, I would like to add that there is not only one savings bank, but about 350 different savings banks with different offers, different conditions and different service.

Whether the local savings bank is recommended or not, it is not possible to answer it on a flat-rate basis.

I just want to pay conveniently, withdraw money, or deposit it with as low a fee as possible.

Money deposit does not work at the Consorsbank, but this is a problem with most direct banks.

And if you don’t want to use online banking, this kind of banks isn’t in question anyway, then only the locally available branch banks remain.

Addendum:

In addition to the aforementioned Stiftung Warentest, there are further information and comparisons on these pages:

Well, if you don’t want an online banking, then all the pure online banks fall away.

So you’re with stationary banks and you’ve got the charge theme. 🤷

Consors is a large and reputable bank (Paribas). I have no doubts.

Otherwise Sparkasse, VR, Targobank, or ING. Depending on what you need all of the options.

How old are you?

If you get that young account you don’t pay anything.

I’m at Commerzbank AND at Sparda, both are very good providers, never had problems with them.

Depends on what criteria you have.

For example, I am with the Commerzbank (normal account) and have no costs for the account. Immediate transfers are free + you can also withdraw money from many vending machines of the group (e.g. db, postbank etc).

I also have my depots with other banks.

Stiftung Warentest has an ongoing section. This costs one or two euros if you look in there I am very happy with online banking at a market leader
