What excursion recommendations do you have from Munich?
I'll be in the state capital of Munich for three days starting tomorrow and would like to explore the surrounding area by train. Do you have any tips or recommendations for this? I've already been to Augsburg and Nuremberg.
Hello Daniela65956,
2 months ago I made a wonderful little walking tour where I arrived in Farchant with the train from Munich in about 1 hour.
There you can make a very nice hike on good forest trails, which goes from the Farchant station to the nursing lake via the Reschbergwiesen (you can see wonderful cuisine and landscape – if necessary after exact opening hours). The magnificent castle ruins of Werdenfels are returned to Farchant.
The whole thing is easy to create in half a day and goes on beautiful autumn – or also winter days.
I also created a small film that shows my tour:

Ride ́ with the Bavarian regional railway to Lenggries (about 70 min. from Hbf München). Then by taxi or bus to the cable car on the Benediktenwand. Upstairs in the inn a pair of white sausage with sweet mustard, a crush and a white beer. Depending on the weather, you can sit drauß and have the Alpine panorama in front of you.
I’d also have to eat the white sausage before 13:00. 🙂
In mountain gas stations not necessarily because they often come out of the can. But if the “Ausflügler” gets rid of Munich in time, he would easily make it to the fishing lakes.
The Walchensee is actually a good idea.
I’d just recommend the Ammersee. Before or after you could go up to Andechs Monastery. This is also much closer to Lake Walchen.
Regensburg would also be a beautiful city. I find a lot more beautiful than Augsburg. There you can also take a trip to Valhalla if you want to see more than “just” the town
Otherwise, there is still a lot to see in Munich itself as the Nymphenburg Castle and walk through the castle garden and later through the Hirschgarten.
A little further out and more unknown is the castle in Oberschleißheim.
Have fun. From Tuesday good weather 🙂
Go to Walchensee.
Save the train and visit the German Museum
