Hello….. I have used paracord for many years for bracelets, dog collars, linen etc.
I started with Paracord Type 3, which is 4mm thick and there are in incredibly many colors. Sometimes it is called Paracord 550 because the breaking load is 550 pounds.
Most of the choices you can find on paracord-shop… which are sitting in the Netherlands… but also sell to Germany.
They also offer startersets.
Look!
For keychains, I had often recycled polypropylene split film press yarn. I had yarns available in blue, black and yellow and could still vary with art base. These were residual yarns as they were on the farm with cattle holding and potato sale.
From experience with this I recommend synthetic fiber yarns that can be welded to get a clean finish. This means that satin cords and other ropes, yarns and cords can also be used for this purpose. However, care should be taken as to how the yarns feel whether they are suitable for the desired purpose.
You can use carabiners, buckles and closures very well at the beginning with knots or braids. Then they are indelible.
.
For a simple keychain I had taken four pieces to at least 60cm and braided in the middle to a round four-earth. The individual yarns were then grouped into pairs in such a way that each pair of the two bracing ends contains a yarn. Now a “reversed” knot came first and then alternately right and left knots until the first yarn was too short or the desired length was reached. The last node was then tightly tightened, the last tip was shortened to 3mm and then welded. Every day in the pocket of a working pants held such a trailer decades!
