Are the heater controllers with Alexa compatible with all heaters?
Most adapters come with to make them compatible for each radiator. With Dannfoss controllers you usually need an adapter, otherwise they usually work without. The Smart Controller “calibrates” during installation, thus testing how far it can press the valve in and how far it comes out to ensure the correct control. In addition, they come with an internal thermostat, so turn off themselves at a temperature that is reached, or control down to keep the temperature.

The smart controllers are installed directly where you adjust the heating, i.e. on the rotary controller. It is disassembled and replaced by the Smart Controller. As I said, all come with adapters.

What’s the gateway for? Well, no data is stored in any cloud, but only locals on the gateway. This also serves as a secure connection point to the Internet, if you want to regulate the temperature on the go.
