Other methods for socializing gerbils?
Good day!
I recently got another gerbil, as my other one died recently, leaving the other one alone. Unfortunately, it's not working out as hoped. We put a dividing grid in the cage, with relatively small holes. But one gerbil seriously injured itself because it was still hurting itself despite the grid.
So, my question: Are there other methods for socializing gerbils? Or is there only one, using a dividing grid? I'd like to keep the new gerbil, too, so they should at least get used to each other.
Thank you for every answer!

Hey,
Not every racing mouse understands with other racing mice that is quite normal and as with people.
Yes, there’s another method, but I personally prefer the separation grid method, because it’s just safer. I honestly don’t know what to think about the other method. You have to pack both mice in a transport box. The background behind it is that the two mice do not notice themselves after that, as they are so damaged to break out. The tendency for them to hurt is very high but if the separation grid method does not work, I do not know whether it would be sensible.
In your place, I would either pick up a new mouse or bring it to a care center where they are socialized. I have the same problem and now my mouse has a partner and they are a heart and soul.
LG and good luck 🍀
Thank you for your answer! Everything worked out, but unfortunately only because my racing mouse has become sick.
Well, the racing mouse needs company, otherwise they die of loneliness. I have some too. So, if they attack and hurt hard while they are indifferent, then maybe I would do Plexiglas in between (let it if you do that, but if you do it over the edge, then stick the edges off, otherwise they probably eat it), and always try to understand better. If she doesn’t fight and don’t hurt herself, you can do her together. But I’d be careful not to kill each other. I can’t guarantee you this will help, but that’s what I’d do. I hope I could help you, good luck with the mice

Please be careful, I don’t want your mice to hurt because of my suggestions
Thank you for your answer. With Plexiglas I’ve already tried, but it didn’t help. But you couldn’t know that. Thank you.
Okay, then I wish you good luck with your mice despite everything!
