We created a website for the fire department in my town (using IONOS) and uploaded it, including a domain, etc. Now the problem is that the website can't be found or displayed in a regular Google search, but only when entering the link. Is there any way to fix this, or do I just have to wait?

You can accelerate this by pinching your sitemap to Google. You don’t necessarily need the search console.
The sitemap should be found under www.*deine Domain*.de/sitemap.xml or www.*deine Domain*.de/wp-sitemap.xml. Try out where it will show you. Then you use the following URL to alert Google that you have a new sitemap:
https://www.google.com/ping?sitemap=* Insert this URL of the sitemap*
Important, it must be the complete URL of the sitemap, e.g. https///www.*deine Domain*.de/wp-sitemap.xml
It can be that it takes some time until the homepage can also be found via Google Search. In any case, it should be taken care to observe SEO when creating.
