Water pump + timing belt?

Hello everyone,

My Golf Mk7 (98,000 kilometers on the clock) is leaking coolant. I've been informed that the water pump is defective. The timing belt needs to be replaced at the same time. It seems to be a VW recommendation that the timing belt should also be replaced when replacing the water pump. Since the timing belt runs over (?) the pump.

Is what I'm being told true? I'm supposed to shell out a good €700 now. Extremely annoying, since the car is being sold on December 1st.

Thank you very much!

Yeah, that’s true. The toothed belt has to go down for this or so and will not make up 30€ from the 700€ at the end.

That’s right, tooth straps and water pump should always be made together…with 700 you’re still quite good for a workshop, but maybe you’re looking for a price at the backyard.

That water pumps go to the beyond is nothing new. And also a toothed belt does not last forever. This process is actually called wear. So you have 2 options:

Allow to renew and use beechwood (sweet root, whole bar or coffeewood chewing bar is recommended)

or

make nix until the engine is stretched.

Planned sales are irrelevant.

The workshop test is correct: the toothed belt drives the water pump. If it has to be replaced, the toothed belt is usually due.

€ 700 seems to me to be the regular VW workshop price. In a free workshop you will probably get it around 100-200 euros cheaper.

Yes, the water pump is driven via the toothed belt and the pump should be exchanged when the toothed belt is wiped, so you will probably or badly have to take the money in hand. Or leave the damage and sell the car

then sell the car with the damage
