Washing machines?
Hello,
It is a fact that the newfangled washing machines (Samsung Adwash, for example) wash for longer and save water. A three-hour wash time is not uncommon. We had a Miele Novatronik back then and it worked perfectly. The laundry was also finished about an hour earlier than is the case with today's washing machines.
Yeah, that’s true. My washing machine even has a program for almost four hours. The goal is at present increasingly lower temperatures and less water consumption. In most machines, however, the flushing chambers are no longer properly flushed through.
I noticed that with the dishwashers I noticed. We have three Samsung washing machines in the WG and they already save on water. I believe that this is so prescribed by the EU.
Hello
Eco programs usually wash with a lower amount of water and additionally reduce the temperature. There is then less water to heat up to a lower temperature and precisely the heating consumes most of the power in one device.
However, in order to achieve the same cleaning effect as in a normal program, the washing time in the main washing must be extended accordingly. The current that the motor needs is negligible.
Matthias Queitsch from the ENSO blog conducted an interesting experiment: He has washed a constant charge of laundry with the same settings – but experimented with different temperatures and the Eco button and Speed button. The energy consumption was recorded with a power meter
Temperature Additional program Washing time(hh:min) Energy consumption (Kwh)
60° – 02:34 0.788
60° C. Save time 01:06 0.813
60° Energy saving 03:10 0.402
40 – 02:22 0.452
40° C. Save time 01:00 0.533
40° C. Energy saving 02:50 0.411
30° – 02:22 0,265

Yeah, that’s it. If, however, it should also be specified in the program selection (energy saving, Eco or similar).
I personally do not choose this because, despite everything, I do not find it hygienic if my underwear, linens, towels etc are not washed to 60 °C.
Even with dishwashers, a program is now more or less standard. I do not choose this program there because the dishes have often not been clean.
Above all, they wash at a lower temperature. If you choose 60°C, the lye may have only 45°C, but the machine is rolling longer to achieve a washing result like 60°C.
My machine from AEG (about 6 years old) needs about 1 1/2 hour for normal washing at 40°C.
Even 60°C makes it in about 2 hours.
I don’t think I have a program that needs three hours.
Both water and electricity billing are completely normal.
Wur have such a model

Just take a look at the electricity bill…
