What is discussed during drug and addiction counseling?

I have an appointment soon with a drug and addiction counselor at a social welfare organization.

Since I am finally getting help for my addiction problems, I would like to take this opportunity as well.

Hence the question: does anyone have experience and know what is discussed and done there?

Best regards and thanks for the answers in advance

Chris 🙂

Hey,

: Experiences and alternative solutions. But something individuality is always given depending on the situation and “offers”

For the first time I find it great that you have seen it and now seek help. For the way ahead of you, I wish you a lot of strength and goodness!

To your question: there is a first realization of how you are even slipped into the addiction, because as long as this is not clear, optimal therapy is very difficult. Then there are ways of therapy being discussed, because as you know, it is not enough to detoxify yourself, you also have to return to a normal, structured life.

But the most important thing you’ve already done: you’ve been looking for help from your own drive!

In short, one tries to find out the reasons for the drug abuse in conversation and to develop strategies as you will no longer be relapsed. Individual discussions or group discussions are possible.

The reasons are discussed, why the addiction is there at all, how to get rid of it and something like that.
