What to do when laptop is busy?

People

My laptop only has about 1GB of its 118GB drive left. I edit a lot of videos and haven't been able to upload any more due to limited storage.

What can I do to get more storage space?
Everything on one stick? New, affordable laptop suitable for creators?

What other options are there? I don't want to get a new laptop because it's too expensive. What other alternatives are there besides a flash drive?

And where can I see where all the memory has gone, i.e. how many GB are there?

Greetings

I suppose you’re working with Windows. In this case, there is the possibility of drive compression. You can find them in the drive properties.

In drive compression, the running gear content, i.e. the data, is compressed so that they consume less memory.

In principle, a ssd is useful for increasing performance, but not in the case of data necks. You also talked about memory shortage and not about recommendations for running gear types. But if the computer is running fast enough, a new ssd is not required unless it would be defective or close to it.

Hello!

What kind of SSD(?) is installed?

A 120GB SSD is just enough for the operating system and a little “small crane”.

Such parts are no longer installed.

Thus 500 to 1000GB are “today” usual, but not yet the maximum.

And how large are the individual partitions (C:, D:, E:, …) if several exist?

And how about their “filling degree”?

Maybe you only use the wrong folder path to backup your data.

Maybe the software listed here can help you:

Also, an external “USB 3.x” HDD, with 1-4TB capacity, can help with “outsource”.

If the internal SSD is actually too small, you can also exchange it against a much larger one.

You don’t have to buy a new laptop, it’s enough to get bigger SSD.

My recommendation would be 1TB SSD for many programs and then 4TB External HDD for remaining file (like videos). Then your problem would probably be solved.

Because at 118GB hard drive, I don’t wonder why the memory is quickly full and you have problems making storage free.

Add Ssd or new ssd with more memory over 1Tb. What kind of laptop do you have?

The CPU is not very powerful yet, that comes the SSD very small for windows today you have min 250gb or better 500gb

So for me, even SSD with 500GB is little, and after a few months I only have about. 19GB free. I wish 1 to 2 TB SSD (minimum)
